Class rule changes under process.
Our review and decisions at the last annual meeting in Helsinki is approved and are now under ISAF editing in the new edition witch will be effective latest March 1st 2007. The updated class rules will be published on the ISAF web site latest February 15th 2007. You can already now get a first view of the changes in class rule and builders manual. Please observe that the final text will be editorial changed.

Changes to the Zoom8 Class Rules in force (6B)

 Proposal

 Amendment to C.1.2

 C.1.2             Mandatory

e)   A red protest flag shall be attached on a visible point between the deck and the boom aft side of the mast and a point on the bottom edge of the boom in a distance not more 760 mm from the mast. The protest flag is to be used when protesting on water.

 

Amendment to C.1.3            Optional

a)      One compass, only showing the magnetic course, is permitted mounted on any part of the deck or in the cockpit provided that the hull cavity is not pierced by anything other than the fasteners. The compass shall not be fitted to the inspection ports.

h) The hiking straps may be substituted with any type of non-stretch material and they may be padded and fitted with an additional shock cord running over the centreboard case.

i)   The All shock cord attachments to the hiking straps are free.

j)  The outhaul line may be prolonged with a line going around the mast to enable   outhaul adjustment at all times when not altered as stated in F.4.2.b, and fitted with a thimble (gutter ring) to lower friction and wear.

m) Adjustment marks, flag sticker and course explanations may be fixed to the hull and equipment

n)  A chock cord may be attached to the outhaul line connecting to the boom to avoid slack. 

  

Changes to the Builder’s Manual (issue 6)

Proposal

C.3.2.3          Cockpit

 

d)       The traveller arrangement consisting of the track, the traveller wheel car, the track mounting brackets, and the control line beckets, are to be all of the RWO-make, with the product numbers R 3301, R 3331, R 3391 and R6212, are to be mounted on their given place behind the centreboard case. The make of these are free.

 

Proposal

C 3.2.3

 

i)                A mainsheet ratchet block with swivel and a maximum sheave size of 45 mm suitable for a maximum line size of 10 mm and a spring suitable for the swivel are to be mounted on the mainsheet base plate. The make and function of the ratchet block is free.

 

 

Running Rigging and Fittings

Proposal

 

E.4.3    Boom

g)       Two bulls-eyes (fairleads) with a hole Ø of minimum 6 mm and with hole-centres fix of 15 mm are to be mounted on their given places in the aft end of the boom. The angle between the bulls-eyes seen from the centre of the boom shall form a 90-degree angle. The port side bulls-eye may be exchanged to a flat cheek block with a maximum sheave diameter of 25 mm. The fastening points as stated in the Measurement Diagrams. The make of the block and the Bulls Eyes is free.

E.5.2              Dimensions

d)  The length of the kicking strap is free 240 ± 10 cm.

e)      The maximum length of the traveller car adjustment line is free 380 cm.
