IZCA Wellcomes new Countries

Israel has formed its Zoom8 Class Organization and more than ten boats are already training in this Paradise for Sailing. Although the Organization does not yet have recognition by the Israeli Sailing Federation the activity has started with skilled coaching of previous Optimist-sailors aiming on the WC and EC next Year.

The President of the Organization, Mr. Andrey Defur of Tel Aviv, says that this new dinghy widens the window for the Israeli sailors, giving them more opportunities to join in on the European Sailing Scene.

Change of Presidency in our Class Association

On the 17th of October Mr Koen Koetsier withdraw from Office as President of our Association. The withdrawal was a result of a long lasting disagreement of means and ways to promote the Class and its aims in the future.

However many disputes, Mr Koetsier did a full day’s work in favour of Youth sailing and his work to promote our Class was not restricted by the poor economy of the Association nor the evil tangs predicting its disappearance from the sailing theatre.

Very many milestones where reached under Mr Koetsier’s leadership. The spreading of the Class lead under his leadership to full International Status and the Netherlands showed the world that we are grown-ups at the WC in Hoorn, where for the first time well over one hundred sailors met up in a fantastic Event, most of which we are to thank Mr Koetsier.

When the leadership now is turned over to the previous Vice-President, Mr Vaiko Vooremaa, who also happens to be the vice-president of the Estonian Sailing Federation, we are confident in that the good work done by Mr Koetsier will continue to flourish and grow in the hands of his successor.

Mr Pjotr Wegrzynowsky, Poland, takes over the vice-presidency and Mr Timo Nurmilaukas, Finland, will be our Official representative at the ISAF Annual Meeting in Singapore in November this year.

The Zoom8 Class Association thanks Mr Koetsier for the work done in favour of the Youth of today and wishes him the best in the future.

Pjotr Wegrzynowsky, Vice President
